Director Tahmineh Milani in Person

At a gathering at Wheeler Auditorium, UC Berkeley,  Tahmineh Milani, the director of the Hidden Half, the most controversial recent Iranian movie, appeared in person and responded to the questions of the audience.  The question and answer started after the playing of her last  film, Hidden Half. (Nimeh Penhan).  Ms. Milani, seemed very well prepared and answered to all the questions in detail and with no reservations.  The event was a full house and the audience paid their respect to her by standing ovations several times.

Ms. Milani was jailed earlier this fall in Iran on charges relating to this very same film,  HiDDEN HALF.  Her arrest has sparked expressions of solidarity from prominent filmmakers around the world.   HIDDEN HALF, depicts the political struggle within Iran soon after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Although she has been released on bail, the severe charges against Ms. Milani of supporting counter-revolutionary and armed opposition groups have not been dropped.
