Dear Friends of the Encyclopaedia Iranica,

We are writing to ask you to join us in celebrating Professor Ehsan Yarshater's 90th birthday next year. This will be a golden opportunity for those who have admired his extraordinary dedication to the preservation of Persian cultural heritage to celebrate his life and his most significant work: the Encyclopaedia Iranica.
As you may already know, the mainstay of the Encyclopaedia Iranica is the Encyclopaedia Iranica Foundation, which depends to a large extent on the generosity and devotion of its supporters and benefactors. Given the task ahead, and considering the present economic situation, it is estimated that the project needs capital in the amount of five million dollars, the income of which will assure its uninterrupted completion. By raising this sum, we will not only honor the life achievements of this remarkable scholar, but will also ensure that the work of all these years will finally come to full fruition. Please join us in this tribute to a great man and a great civilization.
