Music Prodigy Vahid Khadem-Missagh
He gave his debut as soloist at the Salzburger Festspiele in August 2001. In 2002 he performed Tschaikowskis Violinconcerto in Viennas Musikverein. His CD recordings as soloist with orchestra include Alexander Rahbaris Violiconcerto, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdys Concerto for violin, piano and orchestra d-minor, Rimsky-Korsakoffs Sheherazade and works by Vivaldi, Sarasate, Bériot, Paganini and Ysaye. Regular recitals at the "International Chambermusic Festival Austria" and the "Beethoventage Baden", guest artist at festivals "Mondseetage", Klangspuren Tirol, Klangbogen Vienna. Vahid Khadem-Missagh is first prize-winner of several competitions, such as the "Concorso Internationale di Stresa" in Italy 1996, the "International Chambermusic Festival Austria" and winner of the Austrian Radio Prize; 1999 prize-winner at the Stefanie Hohl violin-competition Vienna. He received the Cultural Award 1999 of the city of Baden. In addition to solo appearances Vahid Khadem-Missagh has been appointed concertmaster of the GUSTAV MAHLER YOUTH ORCHESTRA, with concert tours with Seiji Ozawa, Pierre Boulez, Mariss Jansons, Ivan Fisher, Franz Welser-Möst; including performances at Lucerne Festival, Salzburg Festival, Vienna Musikverein, BBC Proms - Royal Albert Hall, Paris - cité de la musique, Festival Aix-en-Provence, Berliner Philharmonie, Edinburgh International Festival etc. He was leading the orchestra as concertmaster without conductor in recordings for BBC England, Radio Suisse DRS and CD-recordings including Dvoraks Serenade for strings, Bartóks Divertimento and Straxinskys Apollon Musagète. 2004 he has been appointed faculty member of the Music University in Graz/Austria. Also in the same year he has been appointed concertmaster of the Tonkuenstler Orchestra in Vienna. Born in Austria 1977 he received his first violin lessons at the age of four from his father. From the early age of eleven he continued his musical studies in Boris Kuschnir's masterclass at the Conservatory of Music in Vienna. With twelve years he won the Mozart competition and gave his debut as soloist with orchestra in Salzburg. Further studies with Rainer Küchl and Gerhard Schulz at the University for Music and Performing Arts, Vienna and with Igor Ozim in Bern/Switzerland. Mastercourse studies with Tibor Varga and Zakhar Bron. In addition to solo concerts also regular appearances as violin duo with his sister Martha. The CD "Duos Concertantes" presenting works for two violins found great attention.
